Routing Arrows

Routing arrows are used to connect simulation objects.

Simul8

Routing arrows show the route that Work Items take through the simulation. (Unless you select to use one of the Alternative Routing Methodologies). You have an opportunity to control routing as Work Items enter and leave objects on the screen. Click the Routing In or Routing Out buttons in the Activity dialog box. Routing can be controlled at Activities and Conveyors but can also be controlled at other objects by using “invisible” Activities.

Click Right on a Routing Arrow to view and amend its color, width and whether it is displayed or not.

Drawing Routing Arrows

You can draw the route your Work Items take by drawing directly on the simulation window. There are two ways you can do this:

Method 1: From the toolbar

  1. Click on the Routing Arrows button on the Simulation Object Panel.
  2. Click on the simulation object you want the route to go from (source object).
  3. Click on the simulation object you want the route to go to (destination object).

Redrawing over an existing arrow to delete it.

Method 2: Using shift key

Press and hold the SHIFT key and drag with the mouse from the first (source) object to the second (destination) object. Let go of the left mouse button when the mouse arrow is over the destination object.

You can remove an existing route arrow by drawing it again.

Click on a Routing Arrow to review and amend its properties, such as travel time, color etc in the ribbon.

You can also use the Links dialog on the Build tab to add/remove routing arrows. Select an object in the center window, then drag other object between the sections - Others, In and Out.
