Results are available for every Object
you have created and placed on the screen. This means that every Work
Entry Point, Storage Bin, Work Center, Work Exit Point and Resource will
have its own set of results. These can be placed on a Results Summary
sheet for easier a analysis and for presentation.
|
Click on the Work Entry Point and select the Results button.
This shows the number of items that entered the simulation throughout
the Results Collection
Period, and any items that were "lost". This could
occur if the Work Entry Point was blocked, perhaps by a store being
already full.
|

|
Storage Bin results show more information, and also produce graphical
output.
The Storage Bin Results show how many items have passed through
the store, and how many remain at the end of the simulation, as
well as the average number in the store over the Results Collection
Period.
Queuing Time is also shown, and may be vital for some industries
where items may require rework if they wait too long (e.g. adhesive
parts), or there is a Customer Service standard, like retail or
call centers.
|

|
Graphical output is also available, and tells a more dynamic story.
This time graph shows that the queue only build up after the 100
items in Stock are used up, and after that the store simply grows
and grows. Contents are on the Y axis, and Time is on the X axis.
|

|
Work Center Results show the number of items processed, and the
proportion of Results Collection Period that the Work Center was
actually working, waiting, blocked or broken down. Graphical output
and a Pie chart are available.
|

|
Work Exit Points report the number of items processed, and a summary
of the time spent in the system
|

|
Resources results show simply the Utilization of the Resource.
This is the proportion of the Resources' available time actually
spent working.
|
All of these Results can be added to the Results Summary. Hover the mouse
over the Result you want to add to the summary and then Right Click. You
can view the Results Summary by using the Results menu, Results Summary
option.
The Results from 1 run of a simulation may be misleading - they may be
artificially "good" or "bad" as they are based on
random number streams. To get a more realistic impression a number of
concurrent runs, using different random number should be made. SIMUL8
calls this Running a Trial.
Run a Trial by using the Trials menu,
Conduct Trial option. In this case the Number Entered, Complete, and Resource
Utilization have been entered, and the Stock start up quantity increased.
The Results Summary automatically produces upper and lower 95% Confidence
Intervals. This can be interpreted as "on 95 occasions out of 100
a result between the upper and lower 95% range figures is predicted.
